Week 11: Sightseeing and cheering Olympiacos on 🙌

Since the week started with Easter Monday, I had an extra day off and decided to go on a day trip to Meteora with a friend. It was quite a long journey to the site, and once we got there, we had lunch before heading up the hill to the monasteries.

Apparently, there were originally 24 monasteries, but due to various events over the course of history, only six now remain. As we booked a guided tour, we were able to visit all six but only went into three of them: Roussanou Monastery, Holy Monastery of Varlaam and St. Stephan’s Holy Monastery. Roussanou and St. Stephan’s are female monasteries, and all three were so beautiful. I especially liked the marble work in Varlaam and the murals in St Stephan’s. They each specialised in different products, such as honey, wine, jam, and many other things. It was a really good experience. And did you know, Game of Thrones tried to film some scenes there? They were unsuccessful, but they took a commemorative picture, which made it into one of the episodes somewhere.

And what I found most interesting were the Hermit Caves, which are part of Meteora’s rock formations. People actually lived in them. Monks lived in them, how crazy…But imagine what that would have been like ~

Then, for the rest of the week, I continued working on my brass pieces - but it’s the last week I’m focusing on them. I promise. By the end of the week, I had them all nice and shiny - ready to bring them to gold-plate next week! Very exciting 😆 In the middle of the week, we went to watch The Drama and then, to top the week off, we went to Fratti, a restaurant that is near the museum, and the food was great. It’s got a warm and intimate atmosphere and the staff are lovely.

On Sunday, we went to a basketball game. Finally! And we actually got in this time, hallelujah! It was Olympiacos vs Aris Bettson. The game was good, it was cool to see the players and the game in person 🏀 This week was a lot of fun 🌸
